iSOL-MET: Soft skills in IMLA

During IMLA (International Maritime Lecturers Association) GENERAL MEETING in the framework of IMLA28 Conference at NVNA, Varna, prof. Nedko Dimitrov presented the results of the iSOL-MET project and  opened a discussion during the IMLA 28 General meeting for the creation of a new IMLA sub-committee: International Conference on Soft Skills development (ICSSD).

During the discussion, the IMLA General meeting members confirmed that the value of soft skills has expanded in recent years across the world. It is critical for businesses to understand not just the technical components of a task, but also how this understanding will translate into business operations. Behavior, attitude, communication skills, and so on all play an essential part not only in job marketability but also in the relevance of such talents in professional advancement.

The IMLA Chairperson prof. Alison Nobel (Antwerp Maritime Academy) concluded that opening a new sub-committee is an organizational issue but including soft skills development in all existing groups of interest will be essential for the conference’s success.

The iSOL-MET partners are invited to join IMLA and to contribute to the future conference topics.
